  • IT solutions for rural and remote community health
  • Innovations in IT

Community transition following disaster

  • Planning, response and recovery following disaster
  • Capacity-building community health interventions
  • Re-building communities after disaster

Research methodologies and translation of research into practice

  • Research methods applied in community health research
  • Integrating research findings into practice

Inter-disciplinary health research

  • Facilitating multi-disciplinary communication pathways and approaches to care
  • Collaborative multi-disciplinary inquiries

Transitional care (care across sectors)

  • Movement from one sector to another, ie from acute to community
  • Transition of people through different health sectors

Other presentation themes include:

Health and illness across the lifespan
The impact of cultural and socioeconomic forces on health
Chronic condition care and experience
Management and funding models
Community health care interventions and evaluation
Education of health care practitioners, skill-mix and role substitution

Selection Criteria

  • Relevance and applicability to conference theme
  • Demonstration of national and/or international relevance to community health
  • Innovation of approach/findings
  • Scientific quality
  • Content linked to one of the transition themes
  • Papers based on original research and experiences
  • Guidelines for formatting and submitting an abstract have been followed (refer to online submission form)

The Lisbeth Hockey Prize for Best Oral Presentation Related to an Empirical Paper

Judging Criteria

Basic Criteria

  • Meets both screening criteria
  • Scores a minimum of 40 (out of a possible 50)
  • Relates to empirical work

Judgement Criteria

  • Novel, interesting, topical question
  • Globally relevant
  • Quality of presentation
  • Clarity of ideas
  • Strength of message
  • Overall relevance to health and social care
  • Special consideration given to developing health and social care research communities *

*NB this phrase has been deliberately chosen, as there are developed countries in which health and social care research is under-developed
